Tables in Gridfox

Tables in Gridfox are structured collections of data arranged in rows and columns. They form the foundation for organising and managing your data within your Gridfox projects. Each table is dedicated to storing a specific type of information, helping you efficiently categorise, retrieve, and manage your data.

Key Components of a Table

  • Columns: Define the types of data (e.g., text, numbers, dates) that can be stored. Each column represents a field or attribute.
  • Rows: Individual records or entries of data, corresponding to each set of column values.

Creating a Table

To create a table in Gridfox:

  1. Open your gridfox project (or create a new project at here).
  2. Click the Add View button in the sidebar
  3. Select Grid and click next.
  4. Provide a name for your table e.g. Employees, Companies, Deals etc.
  5. Click Next.

Table Fields (Columns):

When creating a Grid View, Gridfox will automatically add some default fields (dont worry you can remove these if you want). To add a new field, you can click the plus button on the right of your table.

Managing Tables

Tables can be customised and managed to adapt to your project requirements:

  • Add Fields: Click ‘+’ and choose the appropriate data type.
  • Edit Fields: Click a column header to change a field names or change field types as your needs evolve.
  • Delete Fields: Remove unnecessary columns, keeping your tables streamlined and relevant.

Example:

To add a “Phone Number” column:

  1. Click ‘+’ to the right of your table, next to the last column.
  2. Select the “Text” data type.
  3. Enter “Phone Number” as the field name.
  4. Click ‘Save’.

Best Practices

  • Descriptive Naming: Name tables and columns clearly to simplify future reference.
  • Consistency: Keep column formats consistent across similar data sets to ensure data integrity and ease of use.
  • Regular Maintenance: Periodically review and update table structures to reflect evolving project needs.

Tables in Gridfox offer a straightforward yet powerful method for structuring your project information, allowing for flexible data management tailored specifically to your organisational needs.
